The Wolcott Food Pantry volunteers would like to give a special shout-out to the young citizens of Wolcott attending our Elementary schools (Alcott, Frisbie, Wakelee) . Every year they run a food drive on our behalf around the Super Bowl. This year they donated a whooping 1,139 lbs of food !
We are very grateful that they think of us when planning these activities and we are so proud of these young people and their families, teachers and administrators that guide them in their efforts.
A special thanks to Janet Discepolo (school contact) who worked with our very own Connie Gleiford (pantryr V.P.) to coordinate the event and food pickup. Two of our volunteers (Greg Fehrs and Jim Rapisarda) took our truck to each of the schools and collected all the donations, brought them back to our pantry and weighed it all. Then 3 more volunteers (Connie Gleiford, Nicki Addessio and Jan Eterginio) checked all the expiration dates, sorted the food by year of expiration and stocked the food onto shelves. A lot of work but our volunteers enjoy every minute of it. You guys are the best !!!
